We finished a comprehensive and robust discussion on the Fortitude Budget in Parliament today. This was our fourth Budget in response to the COVID-19 crisis.
In his round-up speech, DPM Heng Swee Keat addressed MPs’ questions in three broad topics – supporting jobs, livelihoods and our future economy; maintaining a strong fiscal position; and drawing on our deep reserves of social capital.
The four Budgets add up to $193 billion. This includes drawing an unprecedented $52 billion from our reserves. The measures protect jobs, livelihoods and businesses, and will enable Singaporeans to adapt themselves and emerge stronger in the post-COVID world.
Today is Day 4 of our safe re-opening. The road to recovery will be long and difficult, and our fight against COVID-19 is far from over. In this new and uncertain phase, all of us must do our best so that we can continue to thrive and flourish.
